Ingredients

For the Hot Honey Beef

  • 1 lb lean ground beef
  • 2 tablespoons hot honey
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 1 teaspoon olive oil if needed

For the Bowl

  • 2 cups cooked rice
  • 1 cup steamed broccoli
  • 1/2 cup shredded carrots
  • 1/2 cup sliced cucumber
  • 1 avocado sliced
  • Fresh cilantro or green onions optional
  • Lime wedges for serving

Method

  1. Prepare the rice first according to package instructions. Keep it warm while you cook the beef.
  2. Heat a skillet over medium-high heat. Add the ground beef and let it sit for about 1 minute before breaking it apart. Cook until browned and fully cooked.
  3. Lower the heat to medium. Add soy sauce, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. Stir until the beef is evenly coated.
  4. Stir in the hot honey and cook for 1 to 2 minutes, until the beef becomes glossy, sticky, and lightly caramelized. Do not overcook, as honey can burn quickly.
  5. Add a squeeze of fresh lime juice before serving to balance the sweet heat.

Notes

Do not overcrowd the skillet. The beef needs space to brown instead of steam.
Add the hot honey near the end of cooking to prevent burning.
For meal prep, store the beef and rice together, but keep cucumber, avocado, and fresh herbs separate until serving.
For a lighter version, use ground turkey, ground chicken, or ground bison.
If the bowl tastes too sweet, add lime juice or a splash of soy sauce to balance the flavor.
If the beef feels dry when reheating, add a small splash of water or broth.
